The monuments and landmarks of the capital of France are known worldwide and have become true symbols recognized by anyone. Also, Paris is one of the most romantic cities in the world, Valentine's capital.
1. Louvre Museum.
The Louvre is the most visited art museum in the world, a monument full of historical significance and a national museum of France. During the French Revolution, it was decided that Louvre should became a museum and host the most valuable masterpieces of the French people. Among the many works of art with inestimable value, at Louvre you can find Leonardo da Vinci's masterpiece, Mona Lisa and other famous exhibits such as Venus de Milo, the Winged Victory of Samothrace, etc. Currently, the museum houses over 380,000 items and over 35,000 works of art.
2. The Eiffel Tower
This monument is the tallest building in Paris (320 meters). The first level is at 57 meters above ground and has a post office, The Altitude 95 Restaurant and souvenir shops. The Jules Verne restaurant is located at the 2nd level. At the 3rd level, (located at 276 meters high) you can admire the amazing panorama of Paris. On a clear day, you can see up to a distance of 80 km.
3. Notre Dame
This Gothic masterpiece is located on Ile de la Cité and was built between 1163 to 1334.The twin towers have a height of 69 meters. Visitors can admire the treasure of the cathedral and the crypt that houses remains of the old Paris. The interior is impressive and the south rosette preserves an original stained glass from the 13th century.
4. Palace of Versailles
Versailles was the official residence of the French kings between 1682-1790. Here is the Hall of Mirrors (73 meters long), that has scenes from the life of King Louis XIV painted on the ceiling. The hall was used to host large receptions, royal weddings and meetings between ambassadors. The royal apartments are richly decorated and reflect the lifestyle of the royal family. The palace’s gardens amaze with their beauty, have terraces and fountains with mythical characters and cover a surface of about 800 hectares.
5. Champs Elysees
It is the most famous avenue in Paris, with a length of 2 km, stretching from the Arc de Triomphe to the Place de la Concorde, two other famous sights. It is 80 meters wide and hosts the most important events, such as the National Day parade, The New Year and the end of the Tour of France. The avenue is lined with trees and luxury shops and hotels.
