Best attractions for kids in Venice

You cannot go wrong with kids and Venice. What child would not love to take a ride in a vaporetto (water bus)? But this is not all that Venice has to offer its youngest visitor.

1. Ferry rides
Of course, water transportation remains a number one favorite when in Venice. It does not matter whether you give your children a ride in a gondola or in a vaporetto, whether you take them on a trip on Canal Grande or in the middle of the ocean, kids will surely love and remember this experience.

2. Peggy Guggenheim Collection
This is one of the most important art museums in Europe and offers interesting activities for children as well. For example, every Sunday is Kids Day, a project that wants to present art to the children in an interesting and fun way. Keep in mind that you need to make a reservation in advance if you want to take your children to this activity.

3. The Disney Store
Wherever a Disney Store is, that’s the place where children want to be. At the Disney Store in Venice, children are greeted by Mickey Mouse himself, while Donald Duck is trying to recover an old boot from a canal.

4. Museo di Storia Naturale di Venezia
The Museum of Natural History in Venice is located on Canal Grande, in Fontego dei Turghi, a palace from the 13th centrury. Children will be fascinated by the 3.6 tall and 7 meters long skeleton of an Ouranosauris nigeriensis dinosaur, as well as by all the other interesting animals, plants and objects displayed in the museum. The Museum also has an aquarium.

5. Watching how glass is made
The Murano Glass is famous worldwide. Visit the Murano Island to combine the excitement of a ride with a vaporetto and going to an island with a lesson of science about how glass is made. If you don’t have time to get to the island, there are many small workshops that demonstrate how glass is being manufactured, right here in Venice. Also connected to the subject of glass is Museo del Vetro (The Museum of Glass).

In Venice children can also feed the pigeons, visit the Laboratorio Blu bookshop that has many books and games for children or they can simply use their energy at one of the many playgrounds in the city.
